Benefits of different types of boxing

One of the biggest misconceptions about combat sports is that they only teach you to fight. But, in fact, combat sports have so much more to offer. There are many benefits to boxing. Both physical and mental. First of all, you can use boxing as a way of venting some steam. But you can also use boxing as a workout. It will help you stay active and fit. All while doing and learning something interesting. Then, there’s the discipline that you get from training martial arts. Patience is something that is very important in all types of boxing. And lastly, it will teach you to defend yourself. Even if you, hopefully, never have to use those skills, you will feel much more confident and safe.

Health benefits of boxing

Many people think that boxing is a sport that negatively impacts its practitioners. And while that can be the case with professional boxes, it’s not for amateurs. You can box as little or as much as you feel comfortable with. Since you aren’t competing in tournaments you take hits that you don’t have to. You can use boxing as good and fun exercise. One that will help you stay active and fit. If you are looking for fun and interesting exercises, then boxing is a great way to do it. You can use it as a cardio workout or even as a fitness training. It keeps you on your feet. It requires that you move fast and precise. And it really gives that adrenaline boost that you need to keep going.

How different types of boxing emerge?

Once you start boxing you will quickly see that your routine can easily be improved and adapted. You need to find the right tempo in order to be able to keep up. You can learn all the stances and all types of swings. Your personal trainer can teach you the moves and tricks. But the way you combine that knowledge is what makes up your own style. There are many different types that have emerged in the past few decades.

What are the different types of boxing?

Boxing is a complex combat sport. And it requires speed, precision, and good planning. And out of all that emerged many different types of boxing. There are those who look to avoid hits and wait for their opportunity. While others employ a more direct approach and look to corner the opponent. Here are five of the most common types of boxing styles.

1. Pressure Fighter

Both offense and defense are equally as important in boxing. But, some fighters choose to focus more on offense. It makes for a much better show. And keeps the opponent on the back foot defending. This is one of the most popular types of boxing. The goal of a pressure fighter is to unleash as many hits as quickly as possible.

The negative side of this style of boxing is that it takes a lot of energy to sustain your momentum. Each swing uses your energy. And you need to keep up if you want your technique to be effective. Therefore, it requires a lot of endurance and stamina. To achieve the kind of strength needed for this technique fighters focus on cardio exercises. That way they will be able to keep up with this demanding boxing style. And emerge from the fight victorious.

2. Out-boxer type

This type of box is the opposite of the pressure fighter. Instead of pushing forward with attacks, out-boxer focuses more on keeping the distance from the opponent. And uses that distance to his or her advantage.

This technique is great for those with long arms. As it will allow you to stay back but still land good punches. This is one of the types of boxing that requires very good discipline. And a precise technique.

3. Slugger boxes

While the previous two types of boxing focus on strategy, this one doesn’t. The slugger will pay little to no attention to tactics in a match. He or she will rather use brute force to defeat the opponent. And taking a good amount of hits is the part of this type of boxing.

Although there isn’t an obvious technique used in this style of boxing, it’s very much required. Sluggers often know just how to get close to the opponent and corner him.

4. Counter Puncher

This type of boxing requires strong discipline and a very high amount of skill. Counter punchers generally wait for their opponents to make the first move. And then, when they miss, they get their moment to shine. It requires very good skill and precise movement in order to be done correctly.

5. Boxer-puncher

The top it all off, the boxer-puncher is a swiss army knife of techniques. Boxer-punchers are the most difficult opponents because they can switch styles on the fly. They might start the match on the defense. But can quickly switch to a pressure style of fighting. Needless to say, this is one of the most difficult types of boxing. It requires a lot of practice and even more skill.
