The Middle East has so many valuable things in its history and culture. But, one of my all-time favorites is the food they have. For some reason Middle Eastern food often gets overlooked, given the ‘noise’ the western cuisine makes. This is something that should change, considering just how much this part of the world has to offer. Your diet is a very important part of every result you wish to make. No weight loss exercise will be good enough if you don’t mix it with good foods. This is why we are going to talk about healthy Middle Eastern dishes that can be your best friend in your weight loss journey!

People usually connect weight-loss diets with boring and tasteless food. This couldn’t be further away from the truth! You could eat good foods, lose weight and still eat tasty and amazing things. Just because it’s not McDonald’s doesn’t mean that it isn’t tasty! Today we are going to expose some extremely tasty Middle Eastern food that will help you on your weight loss journey. Combine this with your workout routine and you’ll be golden!

Healthy Middle Eastern dishes you should know about

Some of these dishes may be difficult to make or come by. Still, you won’t know until you try. One of the most important meal prep tips for weight loss we can share with you is to prepare in advance. Therefore, you have to do is either find a good restaurant or potentially a huge supermarket that might have all the ingredients you need.  Still, it is going to be a fun adventure exploring all of these healthy Middle Eastern dishes.

The first one on the list – Shawarma!

It’s a fun word to say, let alone a tasty dish to eat. Shawarma is one of the most popular (if not the most popular) Middle Eastern dishes. You must have heard of it before. The dish is very tasty and it has high nutrition values.

It can be made either of beef or tender chicken, and in both cases, it is extremely tasty. The key to the dish? The special seasoning used to marinate the meat. It is something you shouldn’t miss!

Hummus

This one you had to know by now. Maybe you never tried it, but you had to have heard of it. There is no better word to describe it but – delicious. This is the absolute best way to enjoy Middle Eastern food. It is both tasty and healthy!

Hummus is simply delicious!

In the most basic of explanations – hummus is a dip. This dip is made out of olive oil, lemon juice, garlic and tahini (specific seed paste). It is very creamy and very smooth. Aside from its glorious taste, this nutrient-rich food provides you with a lot of vitamins, minerals and most importantly – proteins. On top of all of this, it contains healthy fats. What more could you ask for in a dish?

Healthy Middle Eastern dishes fan-favorite – Falafel

People often overlook Falafel. It is not as famous as some western dishes, and this is why only people who have had the chance of trying it know what it is. But, those who have tried it will never want to replace it with anything!

Falafels are absolutely amazing. This is probably one of the most delicious foods the Middle East has to offer. Also, with its high nutritional value, it is one of the most healthy Middle Eastern dishes you can find!

What is it? It is an adorable pita wrap that is made usually with either lamb or other meat. It is stuffed with vegetables and chickpeas, as well as some spices that are unique to the Middle East.

Tabouleh

This one you probably never heard of. But, if you are looking for fat burning workouts for men, more often than not this dish goes somewhere in it. So, what is tabouleh? It is very interesting, and the close I can come to describing it is by using the word salat. It is made out of tomato, springs onion, parsley, mint, and bulgur. Once all of these ingredients are put together, you’d crown them with either lemon juice or olive oil to give it some extra deliciousness.

Based on the ingredients it is easy to deduct why this food is on the list of healthy Middle Eastern dishes.

Labneh

Another very famous Middle Eastern dish is labneh. But, again, this might be one that you have never heard of. The base of this food is cow milk, which may not be everyone’s cup of tea.

This dish is light and refreshing. Above all else, it tastes amazing. Originally from Lebanon, this food is now spread all across the globe. The biggest health value of this dish? It consists of a lot of probiotic foods that offer countless healthy bacteria to make sure your immune system goes up. Brilliant!

Mejadra

This food is simply a pilaf, and it is listed amongst the top-rated comfort foods. What you’d do is basically grab lentils and rice, and cook them together. In the process ad a number of spices (mostly cumin). If you want to go really crazy – add some fried onions on top once it is all done.

If it’s your cheat day, in the cold winter season – there is nothing better you could do!

Last but not least, on the list of our healthy Middle Eastern dishes – Shakshouka

This one you probably never heard of. But it definitely had to make our list of healthy Middle Eastern dishes. Shakshouka is basically a pot skillet dish made with a lot of tomatoes. What you would do is slowly simmer tomatoes, specific spices and herbs and add beaten eggs to the mix while keeping it in the pot.

It is delicious. It is healthy, and it is all you’d need.
